Coton-on-Dove is a fictitious interchange between a 2ft 3in gauge tramway, conveying alabaster from the mine of J.C.Staton and Son, a short standard gauge branch off the North Staffordshire Railway’s line between Crewe and Derby and an extension of the Uttoxeter Canal. Set during the 1920/30’s, the layout was built to utilise some scratch and kit-built N.S.R. rolling stock and to re-vitalise some much earlier narrow gauge models. Much of the materials used were either re-cycled or scrap ends from earlier projects.
The layout was featured in the Railway Modeller July 2011 issue and can be viewed in action on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyOrw2rxNqc
